A new food plant for Phyllium gantugenese “Rizal”

Due to the pandemic, my access to phasmids food is considerably restricted, public parks are closed and no possibility to travel looking for the leaves, nor are there green houses to buy them.

The chance was to try different trees to feed them, so I tested whatever was in my area, and found Bauhinia forficata was eagerly accepted and they relish on it.

This plant is native in to my country and is sold in Europe as ornamental.

I hope it helps people where the most common plants were not available.
