Breeding notes
(by Bruno Kneubuehler)
a detailed care sheet will follow later on...
- from Chagres NP, Panama
- very easy to breed, if the food plants are available
- food plants
- Epipremnum
very well accepted by nymphs and adults - most probably other Araceae are also accepted
- Epipremnum
- female ≈ 10 cm, males ≈ 8 cm
- males and females look very similar, just different in size
- both sexes open up their wings as a defense response when they feel threatened
- in both sexes, a blue-black spot is visible when they open up their wings during the defense response
- nymphs and adults like to hide out on thicker twigs, which should be included in the cage
- eggs are glued, but can easily be removed
- eggs can be reglued for incubation (GET method), though it is not absolutely necessary
- incubation (Cup-Incubation-method) about 2.5 - 3 months at 20 - 24 °C
- nymphs grow up very well in a cage with a moderate humidity
- their cage can be sprayed with (chlorine-free) water 2 - 3 times a week, make shure that the water dries up before you spray again
